West Coast Wolf

Along with the office Halloween party (and the cookies), we had a pumpkin carving. (The googly eye is not normally part of Common’s logo.)

Next to a sign welcoming visitors, a pumpkin with the ‘C_’ logo, with a googly eye in the center of the C.

Here’s our group’s entry in the competition, Surprised Pikachu. (“Resurfacing” is one of the things our team is responsible for; it’s the process by which we figure out which houses can be seen by new radio antennas we install.)

I was selected to perform the actual cutting of the pumpkin (following lines drawn by a more artistic co-worker), on the grounds that “Wolf comes from a long line of woodworkers.” I did clarify that it’s more of a dot of woodworkers that I’m descended from, but still used techniques from Matthias Wandel on a few of the trickier bits.

‘Surprised Pikachu, by the Resurfacers’: a pumpkin with a surpised look and Pikachu ears.

And my personal favorite pumpkin: the group that carved theirs into the shape of the high-frequency radios we use for fast connections, and called it the “Pie Speed Plan”.

A pumpkin with ethernet cables sticking out, mounted on a metal pole.

I baked some oatmeal raisin cookies over the weekend to bring to the office Halloween party.

A bowl of raw cookie dough, and a baking tray splotched with cookies.

The final results. They were a great hit in the office!

Two dishes full of delicious-looking cookies.
