West Coast Wolf

A rather dim picture of the San Francisco skyline, with a vivid orange cast over everything. The brightest thing in the photo is car headlights.

I just received a message from AlertSF:

Widespread haze from wildfires is causing darker skies that can be observed throughout the Bay Area.

Gee, I hadn’t noticed. Normally at this time of morning the sun would be streaming in through the windows (or at least be visible behind a bank of fog), but today I’ve had to turn lights on. When I woke up this morning I thought my alarm clock had gone off a couple of hours early somehow.

The smoke doesn’t seem to be too bad down here at ground level (the graininess in the photo is just my camera struggling because it’s so dark out), but I’m still staying indoors today. Fortunately the fires aren’t anywhere near the city itself so I don’t have that to worry about (being surrounded on three sides by water does help). Still, it is pretty eerie to see, especially as a contrast to the bright sunny heatwave we had over the weekend.
