West Coast Wolf

The air in the Bay area cleared up today (the PM2.5 count this afternoon was zero, meaning there’s no smoke in the air at all) so I took advantage of the opportunity this evening to try out Bay Wheels, San Francisco’s bike share program (currently operated by Lyft for some reason, though it seems to have passed through a few different hands).

I didn’t have anywhere in particular to go, so I took a jaunt down Market Street to the Ferry Building and then up the Embarcadero a few blocks before returning.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and am feeling surprisingly non-fatigued considering that I haven’t been on a bike in more than a year. The bikes are kind of clunky (as you’d expect from something meant to be left outside in all weather for use by the general public), and the continuous shifter took some getting used to, but on the whole it’s definitely a good way to get around town.
